The Acuvedic Retreat @ Pilapitiya Ayurveda Health Resort, Sri Lanka
The Acuvedic Clinic is strongly affiliated with the most famous ayurvedic treatment centre on the island- run by the highly acclaimed ayurvedic expert and advisor to the World Health Organisation on alternative medicine, Dr Upali Pilapitiya.
Dr. Upali Pilapitiya is one of Sri Lanka’s pre-eminent practitioners of Ayurveda, and has been an advisor to the World Health Organization and the Asian Development Bank on Alternative Medicine. He held positions such as Director of the Institute of Indigenous Medicine affiliated to the University of Colombo. He also served a long stint as the Director of the Bandaranaike Memorial Ayurvedic Research Institute.
Having obtained his Masters degree and his PhD in India, he devoted most of his time for research into other forms of Alternative Medicine practiced in countries as such as China, Korea, Japan, India, and Yugoslavia.
On a research fellowship granted by the Peoples Republic of China, he studied the ancient Chinese system of Medicine-Acupuncture, which is practiced today in most countries of the world. Dr. Pilapitiya has received many national awards for excellence in scientific research.
Dr. Pilapitiya is the Supervisor and Director of Pilapitiya Ayurveda Health Resort.
The resort is a unique health care center located in a picturesque setting approximately 12 miles south of Colombo. The Pilapitiya Ayurveda Health Resort has inpatient facilities with all modern amenities. All patients receive the individual attention of Dr. Pilapitiya who enjoys a wide recognition both in Sri Lanka and abroad.

The Acuvedic Clinic believes that patients must be prepared before they pack their bags to embark on an intense ayurvedic detox programme. Consiquently we screen all our patients for suitability and administer intial ayurvedic treatments such as marmapuncture, herbs and panchakarma enabling patients to be primed to optimal conditions in order to gain the benefit of a fully intense course abroad.
The duration of your stay will depend on intital consultation and progress with us as well as your availablitiy and schedule. We will put you in touch with our travel department who will take care of your entire itinary including airport pick up/drop off. Once this is all arranged all you need to do is relax and look forward to a wonderfully rich and nourishing experience.
Once you arrive you will be greeted by the team. Dr Pilapitiya, his wife who is also an ayurvedic doctor and his attentive and specialised staff will tend to all your needs. Extra activities and excursions to visit ancient temples, sights of natural beauty and cultural experiences can be arranged which can to add depth and holism to your retreat whilst also hightening and enriching your overall ayurvedic experience on the beautiful and exotic island of Sri Lanka.
